1. About the software

AK Smarts Books ("the software") is offline accounting software provided by AK Smarts ("we", "us"). It runs on your own computer. By installing or using it you agree to these terms.

2. Licence

When you buy a licence we give you a licence key for one computer. The key lets you use the software for the period and limits shown in it. The licence is for your own business use. You may not resell, share, rent or sub-license the software or a key, or try to defeat the licence check.

3. Your data and backups

Your accounting data is created and stored on your own device. You are responsible for saving and backing up your data using the Save and Back up features. We never hold your books and cannot recover them for you if they are lost. We strongly recommend keeping regular backups on your computer or your own Google Drive.

4. Updates

We may provide updates to tax rates, due dates and the software. Tax rates and government formats change often; you remain responsible for confirming figures and filings against the current law before you rely on them.

5. Not professional advice

The software is a tool to help you keep records and prepare figures. It does not provide accounting, tax or legal advice. You are responsible for your own compliance, returns and filings, and should consult a qualified professional where needed.

6. No warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AK Smarts is not liable for any loss of data, profit or business, or any indirect or consequential loss, arising from use of the software. Our total liability is limited to the licence fee you paid.

8. Refunds
